Of People and Chile

Reflecting on distant lives with a kindred struggle.
Listening to songs of a people cutting across the grain in search of origins.
Searching through the pieces while making use of the chips.
Contemplating the disease of a tree.
Voices carefully seeking a camaraderie and community.
And while reflecting on the courageous spirit of the people, happen upon anecdotes.
At times confronted by a dialogue with ghosts.
They say, "suck the coagulated blood, poisoned, as cold venom reacts to warm blood".
Many before and besides will channel new blood into these veins, conscious of the poison being now well spread;

Chile, you will live. Allende, stay alive!

"And we the dead, distributed in time,
scattered in utilitarian and proud cemeteries,
or tossed into bone pits for poor Bolivians,
we the dead of 1925, 26,
33, 1940, 1918, nineteen hundred and five,
nineteen hundred and a thousand, in short, we
who have expired prior to this stupid numeral
when we're no longer alive, what becomes of us?"

- Pablo Neruda

BASEMENT Media Fest

Founded in response to hi-res commercial media and corporate-sponsored film fests,
BASEMENT is a celebration of the mediated experience as an aesthetic experience. We'll be presenting a mixed program of celluloid and .movs, so definitely drag yerself over for a wide array of glitched, fuzzy, faded, and scratched.
